Halifax: The Perfect City for an Elopement.

When thinking of a spot to tie the knot, are you thinking Halifax? You should be!
Whether or not you’re from Nova Scotia, or even the maritimes, Halifax is always worth the trip for a weekend elopement experience and we can help make it all possible for you.

Here are our reasons why Halifax should be at the top of your list when thinking of an East Coast Elopement.

The perfect mix of Modern and Historic

From a ceremony at the new Halifax Library, which boasts 360 degree views of the city, to a walk through gorgeous Historic Public Gardens, this city has it all.
Book your ceremony at Citadel Hill or maybe some place a little more bespoke like a speakeasy or one of the many hidden gem bars or backrooms Halifax has to offer, some just as secretive as the hidden tunnel mysteries that run beneath the old city streets. The Halifax Harbour and Queen’s Marque have so much to offer in the way of modern accommodations, gorgeous public spaces and ample dining options.

A craft beer lover’s paradise. Brews and I dos in downtown Halifax.

One thing that any Haligonian will recommend for you to try when in the city is the craft beer!  There are plenty of breweries in the city that host weddings. All with a fun vibe and a built-in reception spot, there are many options for you to choose from. Whether it’s the iconic Alexander Keith’s Brewery or one of the many smaller breweries including The Stillwell Freehouse, Chainyard (for cider) or Good Robot (check out their gluten free beers and super fun branding!), all of these places have space to accommodate smaller intimate groups for a ceremony and a cold drink or two. It wouldn’t be Halifax wedding without at least one sociable. Cheers to that.

Love the city and the water? Halifax has both.

Now we can’t forget one of the best parts about Halifax is that it is mostly surrounded by water. Whether it’s the Waterfront boardwalk in the evening, or the beach at Point Pleasant Park at sunrise, this city boasts some great backdrops for your ceremony including the deck of Tall Ship Silva.  The charming calm of Northwest Arm at dawn or dusk, or the bustle of Historic Properties on the waterfront.  There are so many places where you can enjoy the beautiful waterside view that Halifax has to offer. Wherever you choose you’re only a short ride or walk to the next part of your day!

Marrying a foodie? Let Halifax inspire you.

If you want to start with oysters at 6pm and end with poutine at 1am, you’re in the right place

Halifax has a great food scene that can meet any of your wedding desires. You can keep it traditional with chowder, oysters and a good ol’ lobster dinner, or check out the multiple restaurants around Halifax that do modern twists on maritime classics. Looking to feed a crowd? There’s lots of spots in and around the downtown area that offer private dining experiences and catering.

For those of you who are looking to keep the wedding party going late, Halifax has food for you too! What’s more Halifax than ending your night at Pizza Corner? Grab a slice with your new spouse or start your happily ever after with some Hali-famous poutine.

There are endless combinations you can choose from to have your perfect Halifax elopement. The only hard part will be choosing which spots to leave out. So, has Halifax checked your boxes yet? Interested? Reach out!
